Cynthia started her long running career in this business by moving into New York to pursue a job as a model. The first model contract she signed was for five years working with Wihelmina Models. This led to her being featured on the cover of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's cover design for Essence was not only one of their best covers, but it was Susan Taylor's favourite. Cynthia was able to secure her second cover within a few days and set up the foundation for her long-term career. Then she moved to Paris and Milan where she was spotted on the runways of Paris Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia lived for nearly a year living abroad. When she returned to the United States, her fame exploded. Her job was to work on campaigns for Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Editorials for magazines such as Vogue Glamour Elle Essence and Vanity Fair followed. Cynthia was chosen by Naomi Campbell over Naomi Campbell to co-star opposite Sandra Bernhadt for the film, "Without You, I'm nothing."
